The oldest professionnal competition, The Open, was born in 1860 and has been held over 14 different golf courses in Great-Britain, 7 in Scotland, 6 in England and only 1 in Northen Ireland. 5 of them in Scotland are still used for The Open such as the Old Course in St Andrews, Muirfield, Troon, Carnoustie and Turnberry.
