The world famous golf course is a classic links course. Here Golf began 600 years ago, on public land, to which everyone can have access. In the top 5 of the best courses in the world, the Old course is totally unique for two reasons; firstly because of its long history and secondly because golfers have to play certain shots here that they will play nowhere else, (for example, a 60 metres putt!). The name of the architect is unknown but mother-nature has shaped this magnificent piece of land over the centuries, like most Scottish golf courses. The land is flat and has gigantic greens, with seven greens shared between two holes each. The course is also characterised by shared fairways, 112 Scottish deep bunkers and many “blind” shots. At only 6,041 yards (from the championship tees), the Old course is not an easy course, especially when the wind decides to become part of the game. You will enjoy certain special parts of the course such as the “hell bunker”, the “road hole”, the “swilican bridge”, and the opportunity to start and finish your round in town.

Known as the most difficult Open venue course, “Carnasty” as people call it, is not a course for high handicaps. Designed by Old Tom Morris and later extended by James Braid, this legendary golf course is a fantastic test of golf for good players with fast, true and excellent greens all year round. Scottish people like to remember a French story from 1999!!! when Jean Van de Velde lost the Open, after being 3 shots ahead as he came to the last hole. It is well worth the visit, only 30 minutes North of St Andrews.

One of Scotland’s oldest courses, founded in 1817 and located in the North of St Andrews, is 20 minutes away. It is described as “half links-half inland” and is used as a qualifying course for the British open, which shows its quality as a test of golf, but less experienced golfers will find it really enjoyable. The club has a long history.

The course was founded in 1845 and is described as a “classic links” even if the sea is not in proximity. Like Monifieth, the club is in the shadow of Carnoustie. A great course to try out, providing a quality challenge, this course in none the less accessible to all levels of golfer, and a warm welcome is assured from the staff and the members.

Founded in 1846 as a 9 hole course, it was extended to 18 holes in 1868. Leven, like Lundin, is great value for money for learning how to play links courses. It is a short course and accessible to all levels of golfer. A notable point about this course is the memorable 18th hole which is 455 yards long and guarded by a river on the front and to the left side of the green.

Founded in 1850, the particularity of this golf course is that it is shared by five different clubs. From St Andrews, on the way to Carnoustie, it is worth stopping to play this famous, classic, links course and it is renowned for being ideal for players of all levels. The course is used as a final qualifying round for the British Open when it is held in Carnoustie.

Conditions:

- For the Old Course, we will enter you in the ballot system the day before your tee time: if successful, you will have to pay £140 directly, approximately 165 euros to the starter. We will organize another golf course or another activity if you are unsuccessful. A handicap of 24 maximum for men and 36 for women is required.
