People already see lots of similarities with the Kingsbarns in St Andrews, which is famous throughout the world, probably because the same architect is behind this marvellous project. It has been voted best new golf course in 2009!
Its located only 2 minutes driving from Inverness airport.

Coming from St Andrews, on the way to Championship courses such as Royal Dornoch and Nairn, it is worth a stop in Aviemore, in the heart of the magnificent Cairngorm national park, where the Spey Valley Golf Club is located.
All the connoisseurs of the game will tell you that Spey Valley is the best new Golf course in Scotland.
With almost 7,200 yards from the back tees, this wonderful course has a tremendous lay- out with the most breathtaking views in Scotland.
Before you play, do not forget to ask the staff, how to play the 5th….the longest hole in Scotland.

Brora

Scottish ranking: 31
Architect: James Braid
Creation date: 1923
Par: 69
Distance from St Andrews: 330 km
Distance from Edinburgh: 335 km
Distance from Glasgow: 375 km
Distance from Inverness: 105 km

Golf in Brora has been played since 1891. It is a pure traditional links course designed by James Braid, where little has changed since he left in 1923.
It’s a relatively easy course, with no wind, but to be honest the real challenge is to play this course with the wind, it makes it much more interesting.
The golf course has two main characteristics, the first one is that you will not find any markers to help you to judge distances and the second is that most of the green-keepers are sheep and cows, which is why you will find electric fences all around the greens. A great golf experience.

Nairn West

As for the Royal Dornoch Golf club, Nairn West, as we call it, is the other masterpiece of the Highlands. Founded in 1887, it is now one of the best courses in Scotland, and has hosted a large number of important championships.
It is a fantastic test of your Golf with probably the best greens in the country, “like a billiard table”.

Par: 70

Distance from Edinburgh: 305 km
Distance from Glasgow: 345 km
Distance from Inverness: 75 km

Designed in 1890 by the famous Old Tom Morris, Tain Golf club is Dornoch’s neighbour.
The lay-out is quite technical and the greens are very tricky, which make this course really interesting.
This championship-length links enjoys spectacular views over mountains and sea and benefits from a sheltered climate, which allows favourable golfing conditions for most of the year.
You will find a warm welcome and great value for money.
