This is the new golf course, opened in 2008, at the home of golf and run by the municipal Links trust, which is in charge of the other golf courses in town.
People call it The Castle course or number 7. Located in the South part of the town, on a cliff, the course offers spectacular views of the sea and on the old town of St Andrews.

This course is the perfect complement of the Torrance course. It has been constructed in the “American-style”. Like its sister course, The Kittocks was refurbished in 2008 to improve the year-round playing conditions. The course is very scenic with beautiful views overlooking the North sea and the luxury Fairmont 5 star hotel. The high quality greens are of particular note.

This course has been designed by former Ryder Cup captain and player Sam Torrance, in 2001, and golfing legend, Gene Sarazen. This is a wonderful course built on the cliff-tops and refurbished in 2008 to improve the drainage, with stunning views overlooking the town of St-Andrews and the North sea. It was constructed with the many principles of “links golf” in mind. The Torrance is one of the two golf course part of the luxury 5 stars Fairmont hotel chain, just outside the home of Golf.

This course has been designed by James Braid in 1920 and always in good conditions from tee to green. The back nine is the longest in Scotland. The Solheim Cup was played in 1992, the equivalent of the Ryder Cup for women.

The Golf course, founded in 1832, is located in the middle of the village. This little jewel is full of history and is a pure links course. It will challenge all levels of golfer. An interesting point to note about this course is that a periscope from a submarine was installed in the starter’s hut, in 1966, to enable the starter to see if the green is clear. The starter will be more than happy to let you have a look at the first green using this great piece of technology. |
